All sizes of this off-road specialist are approved for speeds of up to 100 mph. With an M+S mark and the snowflake symbol to indicate its all-season suitability, the Grabber X3 will be available in 19 different sizes for 15- to 19-inch rims. For on-road use the Grabber X3 is better than its predecessor in terms of wet performance and noise, while there is a ten per cent improvement on snow-covered ground. Compared to the tyre’s predecessor, its performance on sand and in loose gravel has been improved by five per cent, while performance over rocky terrain by ten per cent. Grabber X3 has a three-ply structure that provides additional strength and puncture resistance. A series of deflection ribs protect the sidewalls against damage from stones or gravel, which makes for highly robust performance in tough terrain. When driving over rocks, grip edges arranged at different angles in the tyre’s tread delivers maximum grip in every direction. The tyre’s unique design has chamfered block edges with wider tread grooves and narrow grooves in the tread base to enable stones to be displaced faster to prevent them from lodging when travelling over gravel. All three rely on a tread pattern that features deep grooves, channels for mud evacuation and staggered edges, which makes for high levels of grip on sand, mud and gravel. To help them meet a demanding set of specifications, General Tire’s development engineers created three new technologies: “Extreme Mud (X Mud)” for maximum traction in deep mud, “Extreme Dirt (X Dirt)” for driving on dirt and gravel, and “Extreme Rock (X Rock)” for tackling rocky terrain. These extended features make for an aggressive MT tire, giving you that extra edge when it’s needed on those muddy trails. The new Grabber X3 is a SUV/all-terrain tyre for on and off-road use, with a clear emphasis on off-road with an 80/20 off/on-road weighting. With all the features of a mud tire, the X3 provides sidewall protection, stone bumpers, multi-angle grip edges, and GT’s Duragen Technology ensuring durability and puncture resistance. And when you’re out and about headed on some epic adventure, the last thing you want is a ringing noise interfering with the T-Swift. These puppies transition well from the muddy back roads to the everyday street excursions, keeping the noise to a minimum for a mud tire. Once again, General impressed us with the lack of street noise created by the X3. For the Return to the MacKenzie as we traversed the unforgiving land of fallen trees, mud-stricken trails, and gripping bogs, the Grabber X3 was the choice tire. Just like any tire, the deciding factor is determined by the terrain you travel. With wider siping, these tires allow for an aggressive approach through more technical terrain. Engineered as a mud terrain tire, the Grabber X3 has all the grit needed for off-roading in the mud, dirt, and rock. After a great run with the General Tire Grabber AT2, we were stoked to try out the new Grabber X3.
